On december 23rd 1998,Sony released it's much awaited PDA system for the
playstation, called the "Pocket Station". For a price of 3,000 yen
(US$25) it was sold out in minutes. It is still believed that there is a
shortage of Pocket Stations. The sad thing is that it didn't reach US shores,
because Sony was "supposedley" working on a PDA system for the
Playstation 2, if this is true then thats a good thing, but still, it would have
been nice to have a PocketStation available for the normal PSX... you can still
get a Japanese version at your local china towns. They are available for
roughly $60.
The Pocket Station weighs only 30 grams, and is slightly larger then the Playstation memory card. It has 5 buttons and an LCD screen. The PS is available in 3 colors, white, the most common, clear, and grey. The pocket station is made to fir into your memory card slot, it downloads games from playstation into the unti. It aslo has some unique features, the Pocket Station can be used as a remote control for your television set. It has a programable 32-bit RISC processor. The unit contains sound and it also has an infrared beam which allows head to head combat without the use of any wires... the pocket station is arcade and psx2 compatible, which means that sony will make arcade machines that will work with the pocket station, and it will work with the playstation 2. The pocket station is also a calculator, a diary, and a stop watch!!
Yeah, so this is
definetley something worth the money... you should serioulsy consider getting
this if you're into training simulators and stuff... its worth getting!
